History of Measurement

For this assignment, students were to research given questions on the history of measurement. We were to talk about the first people to record measurements, the metric system, the Treaty of the Meter, the Metric Act of 1866, early measurement tools, engineering blunders, and finally a conclusion. All this information was then recorded in our engineering notebook. When all of this, we created a CD cover containing all of this information.

Isometric Sketching

For this assignment, we were introduced to to Isometric view and sketching. Students were given a paper with designs that we were to draw again on another sheet of isometric view graphing paper.

Evolution of the Cell Phone

In this assignment, students were required to select a product and research its evolution through out history. I choose the cell phone because it is an object that has been through many changes during the years.The research was to include what the product does, information about the first time the product was created, the product's improvements, photos of the transition, and finally the conclusion that was made. We finally recorded the information in our engineering notebook.

Innovation of the Cup

For this assignment, the students were required to choose an invention to improve and at the same mind keep in mind the intrest of the customer. My group choose the cup because it is an object that is used everyday. Also, music is heard all over the world. We decided to combine these two together. Since the iPod is something that is commonly used, the cup will have an area to insert the iPod and the music will play from the small speakers. The cup has a straw and a lid. The item is not intended for kids under three years of age because small pieces are on the product. Our ideas were recorded in our engineering notebook. After this, we used Inventor to create our cup.

20th Century Inventions

For this assignment, students were to choose a few inventions that were created in the 20th century. I picked the vacuum cleaner, the modern escalator, and the air-conditioner. These inventions are usually taken for granted because we do not realize the comfort that we get from them and how easier they make life. The assignment was to include a brief intro, information about the products, and a final conclusion. We recorded all of this information in our engineering notebook.
